Coming Soon: DVGI 2024 Ethics Webinar
DVGI invites you to its 2024 Ethics Webinar on Tuesday, March 19 at noon! The webinar will feature John Nawn, P.E., PTOE, CFM, F.NSPE, of Delon Hampton and Associates, as he presents on "Ethics and the Expert Witness (and What Happens After You've Been Sued)." An abstract of John's presentation, along with his speaker bio, are listed below. Click here to register.

Presentation Abstract: The successful resolution of a litigation matter depends, in addition to the skill of the attorney(s), on an understanding of the legal process and the role of the expert witness. This presentation explores some of the key considerations of the legal process and what the expert witness does and does not do. The presentation, referencing primarily Pennsylvania law, sets forth the legal basis for the expert witness's/forensic engineer's analyses, opinions, and testimony. While the details of expert witness practice may differ outside of Pennsylvania, the laws are similar in most states. The presentation closes with a discussion on the ethics of the engineer as it relates to the practice of forensic engineering, based on the NSPE Code of Ethics.

About the Speaker: John Nawn, P.E., PTOE, CFM, F.NSPE, is a member of the Project Management Oversight team on FTA projects at Delon Hampton and Associates. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Drexel University and has over 36 years of experience. He has completed over 500 expert reports and has testified in over 50 cases. John also teaches multiple civil engineering courses as an adjunct professor at Temple and Widener Universities. Outside of work, John is a Fellow in the National Society of Professional Engineers and serves as the Managing Director of NSPE's Northeast Region.
